Apparently, if the rumours are to be believed, there is a big cameo yet to be filmed, which will take approximately a week. So they probably need the pirates for that bit.

Shyalaman directing Potter?

What a twist!

Here’s hoping that doesn’t happen, though. I liked Unbreakable and haven’t seen Night’s other films yet, but he seems like the kind of guy who’s better off following his own muse rather than trying to channel someone else’s.

With regard to the Shyalaman article, I’m amused by the comment “I would definitely [meet with J.K. Rowling], but I think probably before that I would adapt a book. I’ve gotten close a few times to adapting books.” as it reminds me of the minor controversy that arose when folks noted similarities between Shyalaman’s movie “The Vilage” to the book “Running Out of Time” by Margaret Peterson Haddix.

I actually think Shyalaman might well want think about adapting a movie (he’s writing the screenplay for the movie based on the book “Life of Pi” isn’t he? But he’s not directing, I don’t think…) Exercising different creative muscles might be good for him as a director at this point…

The last “Pirates” casting call I heard about was about a year ago. They were looking for Asians of all sorts and extreme-looking pirates.

Is this a good thing that they’re still looking to cast more pirates? I figured they’d be done with shooting at this point.
