Send good thoughts to Lea Hernandez — UPDATE
Lea Hernandez suffered a serious house fire last night. Her family is okay, but four cats and two dogs died from the smoke. It’s unknown how much of her art she lost.
Obviously, she’s going to need us.
UPDATE: We’ve already heard of a few folks wanting to organize benefit efforts for Lea and her family, but nothing is set up as of yet. We’ll keep everyone informed of how they can help. In the meantime, Lea already had a Paypal tipjar set up here.

Lea, so sorry to hear about this. I’m especially sad for you about your cats and dogs as when my wife, Kate, read me this story this morning I thought of how sad I’d be if something happened to our two cats. Like Kate said in her email to you, as soon as you’re able to post how people can help out we’ll be there as will the comics community.

Heidi, thanks so much. We’re off to find a rental and get what’s left into storage and see if the two in and out cats are around.
Donations are much appreciated and I thank Lisa, Gail, ginmar at LJ and everyone else.
Please send your best thoughts to our pets. I am so glad the kids are okay, as they were closest to the fire, but I am devastated at losing all the pets in one fell swoop.
