How did this take off so quick? Never heard of it last year, this year there’s a couple of people dressed like pirates at the office. It’s a damn good thing, too. We need more pirates

Yar, matey, the histories of International Talk Like a Pirate Day do date back to the year of 1995. It achieved a level of fame when the scallywag known as David Barry wrote of it in 2002. Since then, those nonliterate of the piratical nature have been finding the day of September 19th to be a fine day to talk in the pirate tongue!
