Many of the Civil War books have variant covers which greatly inflate the number of issues sold.

My LCS buys 75 copies, even though they don’t sell all of them, so that they can sell the 1-in-75 variant for big bucks. I am sure this is going on all across the country.

Actually, Paul, I think the series will be going beyond #12.

#12 reaches “Z” so I’m guessing #13 will go back to “A” and cover characters not done at the beginning of this series (Lord knows there are certainly enough of them!).

And maybe when it’s done they’ll bring back that “of 12″ (like Marvel’s TRANSFORMERS did with #80 (of 4))

Like you’ve reported before, it’s a higher priced book whose sales have been consistantly good and the series itself doesn’t cost a lot to produce in the first place.

Ah.. it’s a RSS feed issue - I use RSS Bandit to check the feed and then use it’s inbuilt browser to read the page. The colour to the left merge with the white middle panel…

i concur with Chad. these articles are great reads (the beancounters at marvel probably do the same analysis). i still miss Article 10 though.

the numbers on CW related books are amazing. the funny thing is that i personally do not know anyone buying any of it. also, i am curious if the Infinite Crisis related books got the same boast as the CW related books do. gonna have to look that up.

Well, the “of 12″ bit is still accurate, because that refers to the current A TO Z series. Unless they’ve discovered some additional letters after Z, I would assume that whatever they do in 2007 will not be labelled as issue #13.

THUNDERBOLTS is apparently getting a new creative team and being tied more closely to the post-CW Marvel Universe early next year, so I suspect its sale will return to these current levels whenever Nicieza and Grummett leave…

And the OFFICIAL HANDBOOK series has dropped the (of 12) bit and is now ongoing thru 2007 - according to the head writers at their ComiX-Fan forum.

I just want to say i LOVE these articles. I find this stuff to be fascinating and great way to see through all the crap on the ‘net and gauge peoples REAL reactions to titles.
