However, I found the manga so blandly conceived, plotted, and illustrated that I couldn't make it through the second volume. It just made me respect Miike even more for turning this unrefined lump into gold. I hope Dark Horse isn't pinning its hopes too highly to this release unless it also has the DVD license. Calling anything a "cult hit" these days usually sounds to me like both a sales gimmick and a preemptive excuse for low sales.
