You’ll be seeing Steve Rogers reliqauries (sic?) on sale soon from Diamond Direct. Just you wait…

Miraculous healings will happen if you touch a piece of Cap’s chainmail tunic! And his shield will become the new Holy Grail—or will we find out it’s all a hoax? That Cap lived and sired an entire blood line that will throw the entire Marvel Universe into chaos?!

Ugh…Aunt May is lookin’ rough! Cover her up!

(On a technical side, the colorist is way overdoing it with those white highlights. The highlights almost fight the shadows for attention and seem distracting.)

She seems surprised in that last panel. Bet it ain’t really Cap after all.

I think that look of surprise is more to do with her dialogue, where she lets slip that she might’ve had something to do with his death.

… or a draft blew off his sheet…

Just wait until next month, when an old villain returns and defiles the corpse! Then Hydra flunkies can regularly go by his grave an whiz on it. Let’s not miss any opportunity to humiliate this guy.
Are we still operating under the Security Vs. Freedom metaphor from Civil War? If so, this is even more depressing.

Which sounds to you more like the Marvel we all know?
a) Leaving things be.
b) Flogging a dead Cap.

I thought after all the Christ imagery in “Superman Returns,” it’d be a while.
I guess not.

Could Cap’s dessicated corpse be morphing into a new body for the Red Skull?
05/2/07 at 4:26 pm
Simply depressing.
05/2/07 at 6:09 pm
Wait, what’s this? Captain America died? When?! Why didn’t anyone say anything about this at the time? I bet the issue it happened in is worth a mint now…

Like minds, Heidi. Like minds.

\\Could Cap’s dessicated corpse be morphing into a new body for the Red Skull?\\
Red Skull’s mind has inhabited a Steve Rogers clone once…
hmmm…

Clearly this is what Simon & Kirby (& Lee) had in mind: Material that’s appropriate for kids but lots of fun for adults to read, too.
Way to go, Defilers of the House of Ideas.
One of these days, you’re gonna piss off the wrong parent.
Lucky for you that kids don’t read comics anymore, huh?
Hmmm- Wait a minute…If kids aren’t reading comics anymore, then where are the Marvel readers of the future going to come from?
Boy, that’s a real head scratcher, ain’t it?
Idiots.

“BEWARE THE RETURN OF THE DREADED DRILLER!!!!”
or at least the unlikely return of that guy from Kill Bill, v.1!!

I’m loving this CAP series with Brubaker at the helm. And you have to give props to Marvel for keeping a consistent art style on the book, too. Cap will be back, of course, just in a new body created by the Cosmic Cube (that’s my guess).
