Uh-oh

Marvel PR is telling us that Amazing Spider-Man #545 is the “end of an era.” Does this mean that Mary Jane will stop using liquid detergent on Spidey’s drawers and switch to powder…or something far more sinister?

    “Jean Loring did it.”

She was jealous of all the time Peter was spending with MJ and still bitter over her divorce, so she stole the Atom’s shrinking pills, set MJ on fire, faked her own kidnapping, and engineered this massive scheme to get revenge.

That’s just a guess, by the way.

I’m just hoping the only “era” that’s ending is J. Michael Straczynski’s 75-issue run on the book. I’ve mostly enjoyed the JMS era (pretty much everything except for “The Other,” which was awful), but I’d hate to see it end with Mary Jane either dead or divorced from Peter. The Spider books haven’t been this good in years, it’d be a shame to kill their momentum with that kind of ploy.

If a comic has a drawing of a tear on the cover, can it ever be said to be mint?

  4. Mark Stroud Says:

Actually I think that is a shard of glass or a broken mirror, but I get your meaning. I think they’ll finally kill off Aunt May or the usual break up, get back together again drama. Neither of those things I find that ineresting.

  5. Malus Says:

    “Finally” kill Aunt May?

    Again?

    Would a /yawn be passé?

  7. Tina Anderson Says:

She’s starting a blog to complain about how she’s been depicted over the years; naturally, Marvel is going to fire her for that.

  8. Bully Says:

Wow, Daredevil’s really good at jigsaw puzzles.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, BULLY

i read somewhere [CBR?] that the Spidey books - now trimmed to only 2 a month - will have rotating teams and focus much more in NYC as a whole, giving more ‘page time’ to the supporting cast etc.

one of he best things i’ve heard so far in regards to the character; beats killing off any character, and Peter has seen a lot of that.

I don’t think you read the piece very well.

  11. Scott King Says:

Well the cover is a photo of Peter and MJ in a frame… but the glass of the frame has been shattered. Then the red hand is holding a piece of the broken glass which is magnifying the photo. …as to what it all means?

I was born in ‘82 so by the time I was reading comics, Peter & MJ were together. I like them as a couple and don’t want to see her killed, the marriage some how erased from continuity, or some other crap.

  13. Peter Bangs Says:

I’ve still got my Ditko Spiderman Essentials so I don’t care……but still I’m curious.

  14. Patrick Dean Says:

I hope that’s Captain America’s glove. And I hope Captain America does it with Mary Jane on top of a washing machine while Pete’s out battlin’ The Vulture.

  15. Jason Green Says:

Hey Hector, you’re right on the rotating teams, but it’s going to be three times a month.

  16. Hector Lima Says:

sorry for the lack of attention, guys =P

  17. rich Says:

I think that’s odd. “How would you like to see Mary Jane killed?” Assuming she is off’ed … couldn’t they at least PRETEND to like the character?
