"Dan Didio must to go."

I never like to see anyone lose their job. Maybe he could serve DC better by switching posts with someone else in the company, or just taking a break. Sometimes all we need is to see things from a different point of view. He has been at it for a long time, and a lot of good things have come out of DC on his watch. It's just that every major company needs new blood after a while. I'd like to see that DD would do if he started his own comics company. It would probably help him to have something new to work with, too. I think that calling for peoples heads (so to speak) only makes people want to stick to their guns, more. That's not to say that I don't feel where you're coming from, Ray. I have the utmost respect for your point of view.

I cannot think of a single reason, apart from astounding greed, why a story starring Superman--the most powerful man on the planet, Batman--the world's greatest detective and Wonder Woman--the most skilled warrior--would need to be fifty-two issues. I think twelve issues is even pushing it.

These are the Big Three, and DC's going to have them plod around again for cosmos knows how many issues before kicking ass which should have been done in issue one.

Why couldn't DC kick off a new series with these three heroes in self-contained stories lasting no more than two or three parts? It's really getting ridiculous. Dan Didio must to go.

"I think the point of the “Superman storyline in the Superman books, etc.” remark is that these “big” storylines will be confined to those books. At least I hope."

That's what I figured ... but Jeez ... couldn't he have articulated it a little more better?

Stories of the DC characters will run through comics featuring the DC characters ...

Mr. Moonlight-

If your books are costing you 50 million dollars, I'd consider switching stores. But that's just me.

"The big question remains whether there is any profit to be made from DC becoming more new reader friendly."

Sure there is. I think the key to that would be to treat every book like a "big event" instead of always trying to pull another one out of the hat. I look forward to reading good stories that make every Wednesday feel like an event. If I know I have to spend $50,000,000.00 to understand what's going on in the one book I like to read, I have to drop that book. How would a newcomer to comics feel about it? On the other hand, if you tell me that Batman (for example) is so good that I'll forget that I'm reading a comic (meaning I'm lost in the story) and it's only going to cost you $2.50 (I have no idea what Batman costs these days) the I'm going to take a chance and maybe get hooked.

Busiek must be trying to throw people off with his description of who's who in "Trinity". Clearly Superman the Only Son of Krypton is the Christ figure, Batman with his Boys Wonder is the Father figure, and that peacemonger Wonder Woman is the Holy Ghost.

"There will be a storyline that features Superman prominently in the Superman titles through 2008, there will be a storyline that features Batman prominently throughout his titles in 2008, and Wonder Woman will have her own strong storyline in her series."

Yup, that's some revolutionary thinking there.
