I love how people don’t understand the purpose of the bodysuit. Yes, it’s tight and covers the whole body…and yet, with the ladies, it’s always open enough to show off the cleavage. Kinda defeats the whole purpose. *sigh*

I still have hopes for a Brad Bird Spirit movie later on in his career after the memory of this one has died down a bit. Just ’cause it’s not out now doesn’t mean it won’t be out later!

“Nightmare Before Christmas” shows up in a lot of trailers.

Besides hating that poster, and wondering about the awkward angle that makes Eve Mendes’ arm into a flipper (which any life drawing 101 teacher will tell you is crap angle and should be avoided), I can see someone who’s worked with Miller on this and Sin City, still hasn’t figured out how to LETTER PROPERLY. I expect this from font monkeys outside of comics who are stumbling after a comicbooky look, but it’s something else again to display a lack of proper form across a whole campaign for a comic book based movie.

Swear ta god, I cannot take seriously someone who can’t manage their serif I’s.

I’d have loved a Brad Bird Will Eisner’s The Spirit. Closest he’s gotten so far is having Mr. Incredible wear his mask with his suit when he sits down to dinner with Mirage.

An ad for the 13 inch DC Direct Spirit figure is in this month’s PREVIEWS. It tells you everything you’d need to know about the movie adaptation. I think it would have been nice,…no,…KEEN,…if Miller had paid the same kind of respect to Eisner’s vision as the two directors that brought Miller’s stuff to the big screen. It’s going to be “The God-Damned Spirit” and you KNOW that!

I know it’s not fair to prejudge a thing and I apologize. But,…I’ve got a bad feeling about this.

@Matt D: It’s fairly common practice in movie trailers to re-use music of a similar tone from other movies. Often the score for the film is far from complete, if even started at all, when the first trailers are cut, so they’ll drop in a score from another movie as a sort of placeholder. It happens all the time, not just in this Spirit trailer. I think James Horner’s clanging score for “Aliens” is the most commonly re-used music in trailers.

I read somewhere that Brad Bird wanted to do a Spirit movie a while back. Talk about lost opportunities. Now we’ve got Fanboy Frank mucking it up.

I find it amazing how Mr. Miller honours the creator of THE SPIRIT in the same way that Zack Snyder honoured Miller with 300, or Rodriguez with SIN CITY… by calling it WILL EISNER’S THE SPIRIT. Oh wait. He didn’t do that. Very telling…
