I've been reading about his work just this week in my "History of Graphic Design" class. I love his stuff. I think it's efforts by guys like him that pictures weren't taken out of books altogether. Which, in turn, helped the comic industry in a round about way. He stressed the potential beauty of books, in response to the mechanized, stale productions that came out of the industrial revolution.
