Pacheco is a great choice for FC, IMO, and I’m happy that the series will stay on schedule. I will be curious to see if the art chores are split according to a “theme,” such as Jones doing Earth based scenes and Pacheco doing Gods/5th World.

Hahaha! This makes me laugh! Yet again, get help for a guy’s who’s behind by hiring a guy who’s known for being behind with his own work. Pacheco was a joke on Superman with his work ethic and this is DC’s answer???? Why does this industry cater to deadbeats who continually miss deadlines left and right. In any real art field outside of comics, these guys wouldn’t be getting any work after one missed deadline. Put down the Grand Theft Auto 4 and draw your goddamn books, losers. Nothing you draw will ever be hanging next to the Mona Lisa…I hate to break it to you, hack this book out and get it done!

DC is retarded for letting this happen, yet again…

Well, I love Carlos Pacheco’s artwork. He’ll complement J.G. Jones’ artwork really well. Plus Mr. Pacheco is really good at those multiple-figure layouts that someone like George Perez used to be counted on to deliver all the time. Reading an interview with him in one of TwoMorrows’ older magazines, he seems to have a lot of enthusiasm and energy to handle that kind of work. I’m looking forward to how he helps out.

Also, this is a good announcement in a way in that I’d much prefer Mr. Pacheco’s work rather than having an artist whose style is completely different stepping in to help. For example, while Ethan Van Scriver has a pretty definite style, it might not be a good stylistic match with Mr. Jones’s work. An instance like that would be much more jarring.

So better they publish an imperfect collection to make everybody happy?

I also hate it when they fix typos in later editions of books. That’s a big F-U to those who bought it the first time.

(In all seriousness, the fault is in the rush-job issue 7, not the decision to fix it.)

AND THEN had the nerve to disrespect everyone who had dissed out their hard earned cash on the floppies by having Jimenez redraw, and perfect the art in the collected edition. It makes sense in some regard, but really pissed me off.

And even then, they threw a big red filter over one of the spreads to try and hide the fact that the page was un-inked pencils….

I remember DC editors boasting about how INFINITE CRISIS would be a wonderful showcase for the art of Phil Jimenez.

By the end of THAT major event crossover epic, literally a half-dozen different artists were doing pencils and ANOTHER half-dozen different artists were doing inks just to get the final issue out the door. Comic book as drawn by committee!

I’m trying to recall how much Jimenez was even there at the conclusion.

DC talks big, but its people can’t deliver.

So are Pacheco’s pages last-minute inserted scenes that don’t flow with the rest of the series, such as the INFINITE CRISIS mini-series, or is the thinking here “1 Slow Artist + 1 Slow Artist = 1 book shipping on time”?

So FINAL CRISIS is DC’s major event crossover project of 2008 …

… except writer Grant Morrison says the story will conflict with other DC stories in recent months, including COUNTDOWN TO FINAL CRISIS …

… and the artist of the seven-issue mini-series has already fallen behind schedule and needs another artist to bail him out.

Yay, DC!

Well, Pacheco is many things, but “speedy” has never been one of them. Odd that they’d call in a known deadline-blower like Pachco to keep this thing on schedule.

That said, I *do* like seeing DC get more proactive when it comes to slower artists. I’ve never cared whether every panel of a story is drawn by the same guy, as long as the artist helping out has a somewhat complementary style and skill level.
