The Hilton, where the fans were sent, had 'em.

No free internet, though, and about 1% of the Westin bar's liveliness.

My TOP 10 REASONS why ‘WESTIN HOTELS NO LONGER PROVIDE SHOWER CAPS’:

#10 – Because they’re available at the lobby gift shop for $4.99 each.

#9 - Hotel’s cost-saving, lowered water pressure will barely get your body wet --- let alone your head.

#8 - NEVER used for the shower. ALWAYS used by departing guests as a way to bundle up stolen soaps, shampoos and travel sewing kits.

#7 – The Chinese have cornered the market on EVERYTHING.

#6 - Used in too many unfortunate, never-funny impressions of Monty Python’s Mr. Gumby.

#5 - I mean really --- a shower cap? This is the 21st Century! Shouldn't it be a 'water repelling force shield' by now?

#4 - They figured out guests were using them as places to expel QUESTIONABLE smoke in 'NO SMOKING' rooms.

#3 - Found as being involved in too many self-inflicted, choking accidents by drunken conventioneers.

#2- Will be replaced by a pamphlet promoting ‘The Wet Look’.

And the NUMBER ONE REASON why ‘WESTIN HOTELS NO LONGER PROVIDE SHOWER CAPS’ ---

If it was a choice between this and the 'shoe buff' --- I think we all dodged a bullet!

P.S.: a towel over the hair will do in a pinch if there's no cap and none to be had.

I have had to pay for a razor and hairbrush at one. A brush I can understand, but a RAZOR? Buh?
At the Bristol hotel in San Diego in 2004, I asked for a razor and was told it was coming right up. 30 minutes later, I called again and was told to go across the street. They also dicked me on access charges.
Sure hope for the sake of this year's guests that the Bristol's improved.

The last time I stayed in a hotel -- a Hyatt -- I forgot a razor. Not only did they bring me a disposable, but I got a kit with a comb, shaving cream and other amenities, all gratis. It was a classy move.

If your biggest problem this trip so far is lack of a shower cap, consider it a 'win' so far.

According to user reviews at Hotels.com, one reviewer noted:

"Additionally, had to go to the front desk personally to get standard amenities like a shower cap."

Check the front desk. This might be one of those "drive defensively" situations where if you don't ask for it then you won't get it.

Probably for the same reason why Airlines no longer put lettuce on their sandwiches... it saves them THOUSANDS of $$$ every year.
