PL: We’re at an inflection point, and honestly, I think it will cost us some of the things we love in this business. It’s been a relatively easy business to be in casually. I think that the standard of how to do it is ratcheting up very, very quickly right now, but I think we’re going to see some very cool stuff happening in the next few years – it’s a moment of wonderful opportunity. I think the field is ready for it, and I like to hope that DC is proportionally ready for it.

Did PL finally came to the conclusion that DC need to start thinking "what's next after Watchmen"?
PL "I think we’re going to see some very cool stuff happening in the next few years" - the next years?! what are they waiting for...start the buzz on new projects while folks are still feeling all warm and fuzzy from the DK movie and all the Watchmen hype. No wonder Warner has taken over the marketing.

Levitz: "...could it spur on a reaching out to Alan Moore by DC? Is there a desire there to be reached out to, even, on his part?"
Well clearly Muhammad isn't interested in going to the mountain. Plus the mountain sure has some 'slpainin' to do. I don't blame him for giving up entirely on the mountain. (Also, why does it seem fitting to compare Moore to the founder of a religion?)

I'm surprised that Charlie Jane Anders' list didn't include Neil Gaiman. Especially since he seems to be on the verge of directing Death: The High Cost of Living with Guillermo del Toro producing. They just need to find a studio willing to fund the small budget movie and willing to risk on a first time director.

Technically, Darwyn Cooke did co-produce the animated version of Justice League: the New Frontier for Warner Bros Home Video- so that's one to cross off the list right there.
