					<description>I spent 10 years researching my book Forbidden Adventures: The History of the American Comics Group, and could never find a photo of Whitney (nor was I able to confirm how he died).  I, too, am a huge fan of his work. He was a minimalist like Alex Toth, although I think no one ever pointed that out, and was the absolute best at visual body language and very very human looking people--no Greek demi-gods from Ogdon. Everyone I had access to said he was very quite, even shy, a perfect gentleman, and, regretable towards the end of his life, a drunk.\

PS, I don't think he had children. His wife, therefore, was everything to him, and when she died, he fell apart.
