[...] At lunch I found out from Troy that there’s a comicbook fan’s award ceremony (Scream Awards) that took place on Saturday night for the 24 hour comic day that may be aired on cable tonight. Also I met an older gentleman named Jon who was also from NJ like Hoboken and spoke fondly of Frank Sinatra. And I made arrangements with Bob to possibly do the core gifts documentation with him tomorrow. I am not sure it would be possible at all because I feel a bit overwhelmed on Wednesdays, but maybe… [...]

Just make sure if you win one of the bloody things, you never let it out of your grip after they've handed it to you or you'll never see it again. They never bothered to actually give me back any physical award trophy. I guess it's being recycled for this year!

SRS -

X-Files: I want to believe? It's bad. It's not only bad - but it's bloody goddamn stinking awful bad.

You better off watching Torchwood or even Fringe.

The second “X-Files” movie was notably absent from the list of nominations.

I used to love the TV show, but Duchovny’s departure from the show (as a continuing star) killed that affection. I saw the first movie, but had no interest in seeing the second, so I don’t know how good or bad it might have been.

Wow. Where to start at how haphazard these awards are. Dark Knight is a fantasy movie? What? The truck flips over is a separate scene from the Batpod chase? I love Maggie Gyllenhaal, but.. what? Alfred and Gordon had a bigger role.

Oh and how is Del Toro on the nominating committee... and his movie is up for a number of awards? I love the guy, but that's rather odd. Guessing he couldn't vote for his own.

Plus, best remake and sequel are categories? Like that's a good thing?

Eh. I guess I should just be glad comics are getting some mainstream attention, no matter what crappy awards show it is.

Nice! I love HACK/SLASH. It's cool to see such a well rounded list for "Best Comic Book" -- there's not even a main DCU book in there.

Also, the pencil trick needs some sort of honorary award above all others, agreed?
