Well, I could see Whiteout pegged as a psychological horror film, like calling Silence of the Lambs horror. I am nervous yet looking forward to this amazing comic getting some screen time.

"I think the “horror” tag for Whiteout came about because Dark Castle mostly produces horror films. A lot of people who first discussed the film saw that it was a Dark Castle film, read that it had “a killer” in it and made what seemed to be the natural assumption."

That is possible. I was surprised to see the Dark Castle logo in front of RocknRolla (I watch a lot of movies, but I'm pretty sure it was this one). That's not really a Dark Castle sort of film, but New Line was once just the house that Freddy built. I didn't even know Whiteout was a Dark Castle film.

Delays happen. Studios seem to think that playing musical release dates will somehow magically allow them to find one where their film does the same business as 300 or Passion of the Christ. Sometimes it works and sometimes movies just get lost in the shuffle. Delaying Wanted was obviously a good idea. Releasing anything in September is usually NOT a good idea. Anything with a budget over 20 million should not be released in September. I think Whiteout's story is good enough to make a lot of money, and that's why I would like to see a November-early January release date. Also, it just feels like a winter film, but not just beecause it's full of ice and snow. If Aliens vs. Predator can make money in December, Whiteout can. Just don't release it in September. September is for low budget and really bad (separately, not both low budget AND bad) films. Whiteout deserves better.

I'm all for comics creators getting rights fees for their projects and then the movies never getting made. everyone wins. :>

It's gotten to the point where I wish they would make a list of comics that AREN'T being made into movies so I'd have much shorter article to read and get on with my life.

that list is pretty interesting, and I don't know why there are problems with the Whiteout movie. In any case, it's cool to see some of those being made, others, please, they are hardly even comic books and only have an issue or two out, sooo I don't know what they think the story is about.

Maybe that's the problem with the Whiteout movie: It's a horror story, but the original work was a crime thriller.

Martin was kind enough to put Pet Robots up in the "pending updates" section at the bottom.

thanks Martin!

You'd think comics people would be able to recognize the signs of a glut and a coming bubble-burst by now...

Oh, and if Whiteout's been delayed that much, it's not a good sign. The Adventures of Pluto Nash, anyone?
