For the most part yes, but if you've got a short story sample that's lettered (ie they can read it as well as see the art) then they're not above reading it. Good art never hurts though, as like with any reader, you've got to hook them. 

Maybe this time I'll go to one on a day when I'm going to be there the next day. It's not only a great place to get reviewed, but a great place to hook up with other talented artists. It's just as important to make connections with other yet unknowns as it is with well knowns. Ya know.</description>
