Graphic novelists Metaphrog (Sandra Marrs and John Chalmers) have been working together for over a decade. Creators of the critically acclaimed Louis series, they have received prestigious Eisner and Ignatz award nominations, and have collaborated with the renowned FatCat record label.They are currently working on a new book, Louis - Night Salad. From Electric Soup to Superman
Meet Scottish graphic artist Vincent Deighan, the man behind the pseudonym Frank Quitely. Quitely is the creator of the underground comix title Electric Soup and The Greens (a parody of The Broons). He has also illustrated Neil Gaiman’s Sandman: Endless Nights and DC Comics’ All Star Superman, and was responsible for The Batman:The Scottish Connection. Chair: Lisa Otty.

Gary Erskine in Conversation
Freelance comic artist Gary Erskine shares highlights from his illustrious career; nearly 20 years of work that has featured in 2000AD, Star Wars, Hellblazer and many other classic titles. Gary also gives us a sneak preview of his latest work on the original space cowboy, Dan Dare, one of the most popular icons of British cartooning from the 1950s onwards.

Come along and make your own Japanese kamishibai picture story at this storytelling and art workshop. Make manga-style picture cards with artist Julianna Capes, inspired by traditional Japanese stories told by Mio Shapley and Fergus McNicol.

Learn how to make your own comics and cartoons with graphic artists Metaphrog, creators of the ‘Louis’ graphic novel series. This workshop introduces some basic design and illustration techniques for all tomorrow’s ‘local heroes’.
